New Delhi: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh surprised everyone by taking a major decision. During a state cabinet meeting, the name of the Jalalabad tehsil in Shahjahanpur district was changed; it will now be known as ‘Bhagwan Parshuram Puri’. Once the government’s proposal is formally approved, the administrative process to update the new name in official documents and records will commence.

Additionally, the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday gave the green signal to 27 proposals. The Yogi Adityanath government has previously renamed several other cities. Key details regarding the meeting are provided below.

Approval of 27 Proposals in the Cabinet Meeting

Following the cabinet meeting, Sunil Sharma, the Minister for IT and Electronics, shared significant information. He confirmed that the cabinet had approved the establishment of a ‘Startup Mission’ to boost investment in UP. Furthermore, the cabinet approved a proposal regarding the ‘CM Risk Management and Livestock Insurance Scheme’ for the livestock and dairy development sectors, presented by Minister Dharampal Singh.

He explained that insurance coverage would be provided for the livestock of small and marginal farmers, animal rearers, and dairy farmers in the event of disease outbreaks, disability, or death. Directives have also been issued to implement this scheme across all 75 districts of UP.

Approval for These Policies as Well

CM Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet has approved the ‘UP Startup Policy 2026’ and the ‘Data Centre Policy 2026’. Approvals were also granted for the establishment of the Maharishi Yogi International Agricultural University in Bilhaur (Kanpur), Thakur Yugraj Singh University in Fatehpur, and Ajay Kumar Garg University in Ghaziabad. These major decisions were taken during the cabinet meeting.

A proposal to increase the pensions of the Chairman and members of the Public Service Commission was also approved. Meanwhile, a decision was taken to defer proposals related to gratuity for madrasa teachers.

Approval Granted for Medical Colleges

Under the proposals approved by the Cabinet, 100-bed hospitals will be constructed in both Gorakhpur and Moradabad; the government has already sanctioned this project and approved the transfer of land for it free of cost.

Additionally, approval has been granted to reserve 50 per cent of seats in the medical college located in Varanasi Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, for the families of workers. A proposal for the direct recruitment of Olympic and Paralympic medalists has also been approved.

It is worth noting that Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Uttar Pradesh in early 2027. Ahead of the elections, the state government is announcing various new initiatives and benefits.
