Atal Bhujal Yojana
Expansion of Atal Bhujal Yojana: The government is planning to expand the Atal Bhujal Yojana, in which this scheme will be included in five states including Bihar, Punjab, with the benefit of this scheme, the groundwater level can be increased in those states where there is water shortage, this scheme was first started in seven states, after this five more states are being included in it, so that the groundwater level can be increased here also.
These five states will be included

the five states which have been included by the government in Atal Bhujal Yojana are Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Bihar and Punjab. There is a shortage of water in these places, for which these states are being included in the groundwater level scheme so that the groundwater level can be increased here too and the demand and supply of water among the people can be met.
Till now the scheme was expanded in these states

Atal Bhujal Yojana was earlier started in seven states which included Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, which was being operated in 80 districts of these states, now five more states have been added to it in which this scheme will also be included.
These five states are Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab, here also this scheme will be started to improve the groundwater level. Till now, through this scheme, work has been done to increase the groundwater level in 27 blocks and 813 Gram Panchayats of 26 districts, due to which the groundwater level has also increased here. To increase the groundwater level, the government is constructing ponds, tanks etc. in various ways so that water can be stopped and water sources can increase.
What is Atal Bhujal Yojana?

This is a Govt Schemes ,This scheme is a groundwater management scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was started on 25 December 2019 on the auspicious occasion of the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It was started at a total cost of Rs 6000 crore, in which 3000 crores were received as loan by the World Bank and 3000 crores were as a contribution of the Government of India.
The objective of this scheme is to improve the management of groundwater in seven major states of India so that the level of groundwater can be increased in these states, so that the people here do not face water shortage. This is a scheme funded by the World Bank, which was approved by the World Bank in 2018. Now five more states will be included in this scheme so that the level of groundwater can be increased there too, this scheme will remain for the next 5 years.
