New Delhi: Everyone wishes to invest in a place that offers substantial returns while ensuring their capital remains secure, preventing any future financial difficulties. Currently, many people are earning well through Fixed Deposits (FDs). FDs offer both security for one’s money and attractive interest rates.

This is a hassle-free option. You can earn excellent interest by investing with the State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank. If you are interested in learning about a four-year Fixed Deposit scheme with SBI, look no further; we are here to share a golden opportunity that will clear up any confusion you may have. Please read the entire article carefully.

What is the interest rate on a 4-year FD?

SBI, one of the country’s major banks, offers highly competitive interest rates to its customers. The bank provides the facility to open FDs for tenures ranging from 7 days to 10 years. Interest rates vary based on the investment tenure and the customer’s age. Currently, SBI offers an annual interest rate of 6.30% on a 4-year FD for general customers.

For customers aged 60 years or older, the interest rate for the same tenure is 6.80%. ‘Super senior citizens’, those aged 80 years or older, receive an annual interest rate of 6.90%. Depending on their age, customers can easily secure higher returns compared to the standard interest rate.

How much interest do senior citizens receive?

SBI provides the benefit of additional interest on FDs to its senior citizen customers. Senior citizens receive an extra 0.50% interest compared to general customers. Super senior citizens are offered an additional 0.10% interest over and above the rate provided to senior citizens. Thus, for a 4-year fixed deposit (FD), general customers receive an interest rate of 6.30%, senior citizens get 6.80%, and super senior citizens earn 6.90%. This provides elderly customers with an opportunity to secure a slightly higher return on their savings.

What is the maximum investment limit?

A common question is: what is the maximum amount that can be invested in a 4-year FD? Under SBI’s FD scheme, an account holder can invest a maximum of ₹2,99,99,999. In other words, an amount just under ₹3 crore can be deposited into this scheme.

When were the interest rates last changed?

For your information, the last revision to SBI’s FD scheme interest rates took place in December 2025. There have been no major changes to the bank’s FD interest rates since then. Please note that the interest earned on an FD may be subject to taxation. Therefore, before making an investment, be sure to check the current interest rates and terms and conditions on the bank’s official website or by visiting your nearest branch.
