He stated that India’s S-400 air defense system posed a major challenge for Pakistan during the operation. According to Mishra, he stated that the Pakistani side attempted to activate potential espionage networks and sleeper cells within India to detect the deployment and location of this system. Pakistan had employed a significant tactic to spy on India using missiles. According to Mishra, the S-400’s long-range surveillance and target-hitting capabilities made it risky for Pakistani fighter jets to approach Indian airspace. This is why Pakistan was paying special attention to obtaining information regarding the actual status and deployment of Indian air defenses.
Furthermore, the retired Air Marshal claimed that Pakistan had access to satellite and other technical information, but despite this, it was difficult to pinpoint the S-400’s precise location. Consequently, attempts were reportedly made to use human intelligence networks. He stated that the purpose of the potential sleeper cells activated in India was to gather information regarding the deployment of air defense systems.
Referring to the S-400’s capabilities during the operation, Mishra also stated that it was a long-range operation. According to him, a target was struck approximately 314 kilometers from the system. However, India successfully dealt with this. If this claim is true, it could be considered a significant development in India’s long-range air defense capabilities.
He also stated that the background of Operation Sindoor was related to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in April 2015. Subsequently, India launched military action against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in May 2025. Military tensions between the two countries escalated significantly, with drone, missile, and air strikes continuing for several days. This incident also occurred during this period.
