On Saturday, a cloudburst in a secluded village in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, killed at least three people. In the district’s Gadigram tehsil of Rajgarh, flash floods that followed the cloudburst have damaged multiple homes and left two persons missing. According to the district administration, teams are being sent out by local authorities to search for the missing as part of an ongoing rescue effort.

Early on Saturday morning, the cloudburst caused flash floods in the hilly Rajgarh, which is roughly 25 kilometers from the district headquarters. Three persons, including two women, whose remains were carried away by the floods have been discovered by rescuers, officials informed news agency PTI.

The cloudburst happened one day after one that struck the Gurez Sector of the Bandipora district in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday. There were no recorded casualties.

The cloudburst struck the north Kashmir district’s Tulail neighborhood in the frontier Gurez Sector. People were in a panic due to the unexpectedly intense downpour.

For the past week, Jammu & Kashmir has been ravaged by landslides and intense rain, causing rivers to rage and flooding to wash away everything in their path.

Meanwhile, several damages from landslides and falling rocks brought on by the intense rains have forced the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Rajouri.

“According to the advise, there is a cut-off period for all vehicles arriving from the Mughal Road. After 2:30 pm, we haven’t permitted any cars to pass. For lodging and food, passenger cars have been told to go to the bus stand. Here, trucks and small cars are being stopped. Action will be done as soon as the road advisory is lifted or the weather improves,” stated Sub Inspector (SO Traffic) Maqbool Hussain.
