YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Apologizes for Offensive Joke, FIR Filed
Famous YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia shared a video on X, apologizing for an inappropriate joke made on Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. On Monday, the 31-year-old admitted that his joke, which led to heavy trolling on social media, was a mistake.
His apology came after complaints were filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission for allegedly using offensive language on the show. Along with Allahbadia, complaints were also registered against social media influencer Apoorva Makheja and comedian Samay Raina.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also tweeted about the matter
Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, tweeted that Guwahati Police has filed a case against some YouTubers and social media influencers. The names include Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makheja, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others. They are accused of promoting vulgar content and having inappropriate discussions on a show called India’s Got Latent. Guwahati Crime Branch registered the case under various sections of the BNS 2023, IT Act 2000, Cinematograph Act 1952, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986. The investigation is currently ongoing.
YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia posted a long video on X to apologize. where he admitted, “My comment was not only inappropriate but also it was not funny. Comedy is not my strength; I am here only to apologize. Many of you asked if I want to use my platform this way—of course not! I have no justification or explanation for what happened. I simply want to say sorry. I made a poor judgment, and it was extremely wrong.
As the People of all ages watch the podcast, and I take that responsibility seriously. The last thing I would ever want is to disrespect families. This experience has taught me that I need to use my platform more wisely. I can only promise to do better. I have also asked the video creators to remove the insensitive parts. In the end, all I can say is that I am extremely sorry. I hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
