New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again endeavoured to expand the country’s horizons through diplomatic and trade agreements. He highlighted the bilateral relationship during a joint engagement with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, noting that the ties between India and Belgium are deeply rooted in history. These roots form a significant part of our shared heritage.
Earlier, the Prime Minister held delegation-level talks with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged between India and Belgium in their presence, covering sectors ranging from defence and food to clean energy. During the proceedings, he spoke at length about initiatives such as the Zorawar tank and the world’s largest green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
What PM Modi said on the defence agreement
Recalling his visit to Belgium a decade ago, PM Narendra Modi expressed happiness at seeing the remarkable progress the partnership has made over the last ten years. He noted that the scope of cooperation has expanded beyond traditional sectors to include strategic areas like defence and clean energy.
“We are collaborating on modern defence equipment like the Zorawar tank. Additionally, we are developing one of the world’s largest green ammonia projects in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.”
Deep-rooted ties between India and Belgium
PM Narendra Modi observed that the world is currently going through a period of great upheaval, with tensions prevailing in many regions.
