New Delhi: Amid speculation about a Union Cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant meeting with all Ministers of State, including those holding independent charge and those assigned to various ministries. The meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, saw ministers briefing the Prime Minister on the functioning of their respective ministries.
Additionally, the ministers outlined the reforms implemented and new initiatives undertaken so far. They provided updates on the progress of their ministries’ schemes and ongoing work. A key focus was placed on the objective of rapidly implementing government schemes on the ground, with particular emphasis on time-bound delivery. During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed several important points to the ministers.
Directives to Maintain Transparency in Projects
Prime Minister Modi instructed the ministers to complete projects and schemes within the stipulated timeframes without compromising on the quality of work. He emphasised the need to maintain transparency during project implementation and to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries. According to sources, the Prime Minister placed special emphasis on schemes related to the welfare of the poor.
He stated that the benefits of these schemes must reach the beneficiaries without any delays or hurdles. PM Modi also inquired about the ministers’ direct engagement with the public, asking questions regarding their interaction with citizens on social media and the outreach of their respective ministries.
Discussion on the Goal of a Developed India
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, featured a detailed discussion on the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047) agenda. The Prime Minister asked ministers about their ministry’s vision and sought to understand their plans for transforming India into a developed nation by 2027. He emphasised that the work of the ministries must be aligned with the goal of a developed India.
He further stated that the direction of schemes and programs should be determined in accordance with this overarching objective. According to sources, this was the first meeting of its kind not to involve Cabinet Ministers or top-ranking officials.
Ministers of State, including those holding independent charge and those attached to various ministries,s attended the meeting. Ministers of State handling key sectors such as agriculture, education, rural development, and social justice participated actively. This meeting followed earlier discussions held with secretaries from all departments and empowered groups.

He emphasised that the work of ministries should not be limited merely to formulating schemes; the impact of these schemes must be visible on the ground. Adherence to timelines, quality, and transparency must be prioritised in every task. Furthermore, ministries need to advance their plans and operations with the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047 in mind.
