New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a major boost to the Union Territory of Ladakh. Through video conferencing, he inaugurated and dedicated five key projects, worth approximately Rs 3,350 crore, to the region. These projects will significantly improve road and air connectivity. Furthermore, they will strengthen power infrastructure, help preserve cultural heritage, and enhance water availability in Ladakh.

Speaking via video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that a new chapter is being added to the progress and development of Ladakh. He congratulated the people of Ladakh on these projects and commended the engineers, labourers, residents, and personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for their efforts in completing them.

A New Chapter in Ladakh’s Progress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that a new chapter is unfolding in the progress of Ladakh. He congratulated the people of the region and praised the engineers, workers, residents, and the staff of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for their contributions toward the completion of these projects.

The Prime Minister emphasised that a special focus is being placed on the new generation in Ladakh. The goal is to ensure that the youth have access to quality education and opportunities to learn new technologies, so they do not have to depend on other cities for such facilities. With this objective in mind, a ‘Centre of Excellence’ is being established in Leh.

Making Life Easier for the People

During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that these projects will help make life easier for the common people of Ladakh. They will lead to improvements in power infrastructure and increased water availability. He added that the preservation of the region’s ancient heritage will also be strengthened. He reiterated that another chapter is being added to the progress and development of Ladakh today.

“I am pleased to be a part of this occasion through the medium of technology,” the Prime Minister said, while also extending his congratulations to all the people of Ladakh on these projects. He commended the engineers, workers, and local associates involved in its construction.

Capacity of Leh Airport to Increase

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the capacity of the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh will be increased. Referring to the new terminal, he noted that he had laid its foundation stone some time ago, and it is a privilege for him to now inaugurate it.

With the commencement of the new terminal, the airport’s annual passenger capacity will rise from 1 million (10 lakh) to 3.5 million (35 lakh). Furthermore, the number of flights could also increase threefold. This will provide greater convenience to travellers visiting Ladakh and improve air connectivity in the region.
