As per the details, this is the latest phase of a nationwide operation that started in october 2023, aimed at removing foreign national living illegally in pakistan, most of whom are afghan citizens. the process which was originally set to begin on april 1, has been postponed until april 10 due to the eid ul fitr holidays. human rights groups, the taliban government and the united nations have strongly criticized pakistan’s campaign. according to the government document, this delay has been granted to allow more time for the procedure. this move of pakistani government has sparked significant concerns about the impact of afghan refugees and their rights.

Pakistan stated that the country faces a threat from terrorist groups of afghanistan and illegal residents are hindering anti-terrorism efforts, particularly against the tehrik-i-taliban-pakistan (TTP). after the taliban took control of afghanistan in 2021, pakstan strengthened border security to address these concerns.
