New Delhi: Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is disrupting normal life across various parts of the country. Several regions are also grappling with floods, making daily life difficult as floodwaters enter homes. Torrential rains in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have led to a drop in temperatures.
Weather conditions remain adverse in these areas. The weather is also set to deteriorate again in the Delhi-NCR region. Likely Heavy Rain in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected across the capital Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, eastern Rajasthan, and most parts of western Uttar Pradesh. Alerts for heavy rain have been issued for several areas in these regions.
Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh until 11:30 AM today. There is also a possibility of flash floods in some areas. Rain alerts have been issued for hilly regions as well.
Heavy Rain Expected Here Too
The Meteorological Department predicts heavy rainfall in the hilly regions of North India, specifically Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. The IMD has forecast heavy rain for the mountainous areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. People are urged to exercise caution due to the risk of lightning strikes.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh. A low-pressure area is likely to form over northern Madhya Pradesh and is expected to move in a west-northwesterly direction over the next 24 hours. Consequently, rainfall is anticipated across central and northern India, including the southern parts of Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh.
Heavy Rain Accompanied by Squalls and Lightning
The Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall for Northeast India as well. An alert for heavy rain has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur. Additionally, squalls accompanied by heavy rain are expected in Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
Meanwhile, in Western India, persistent heavy rain is expected today in Konkan and Goa. Scattered rainfall is likely in parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and the Saurashtra and Kutch regions. As for South India, the prospects for rain appear limited, although a warning for significant rainfall has been issued for parts of coastal Karnataka.
