Monsoon Alert: However, the capital, Delhi, and its surrounding areas are still awaiting the monsoon’s arrival. It is expected that a spell of monsoon rain will soon begin in the Delhi-NCR region, leading to a drop in temperatures.

Rain is expected throughout the week in Delhi-NCR. Forecasts indicate rainfall across Uttar Pradesh—from the western to the eastern regions—in the coming days. Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan may also witness spells of rain. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a warning for heavy rain has been issued for the next week. Details regarding the weather conditions in various areas are provided below.

Weather Outlook for Delhi

According to the Meteorological Department, a warning for heavy rain has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from July 6 to July 8. Heavy rain is expected in Western UP—including Noida and Ghaziabad, which border Delhi—on July 3 and again between July 8 and 9. Rainfall is also anticipated in Eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 7 to July 9.

Heavy rain is likely in Eastern Rajasthan between July 3 and July 9. Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Western Rajasthan. People have been urged to exercise caution due to the risk of lightning strikes.

Heavy Rain Expected in Uttar Pradesh

The IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for various districts of Uttar Pradesh up to July 7. Heavy downpours are predicted across the Awadh region, including Kanpur, Unnao, and Lucknow. Furthermore, areas like Barabanki, Etawah, and Bahraich have been experiencing rain for the past two days, and alerts for continued inclement weather have been issued.

Heavy rainfall is likely to continue across the entire Purvanchal region. Rain is expected in the Western UP districts of Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahr, and Hapur. Meanwhile, heavy rain is also possible in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad until July 9.

Monsoon Becomes Active in North India

According to the Meteorological Department, the Southwest Monsoon has become active across North India. This is likely to bring rainfall to various regions, including parts of Madhya Pradesh. The monsoon has also arrived in Rajasthan and Haryana. Monsoon activity is expected to continue over the next 4–5 days. Alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Gujarat, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh between July 3 and July 6.

Weather in Uttarakhand and Himachal

According to the India Meteorological Department, warnings of rainfall have been issued for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir up to July 9. Specifically, a rainfall alert is in place for Himachal Pradesh from July 5 to July 9. Uttarakhand is also likely to experience rainfall over the next 4–5 days.
