New Delhi: Hindu organisations are taking a firm stance regarding the theft of offerings from the newly constructed Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. These organisations believe that the accused involved in the theft should not be spared. An SIT is currently investigating the matter, and eight individuals have already been arrested.

Amidst this, a significant statement has emerged from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, indicating that the RSS views the matter with great seriousness. When asked about the issue during an event in Nagpur on Sunday, Bhagwat reiterated the Sangh’s uncompromising stance; it is evident that the organisation does not favour showing leniency to anyone found guilty of theft.

What Mohan Bhagwat said regarding the theft of offerings

Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat refrained from speaking at length directly about the theft incident at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. However, he endorsed the statement previously issued by RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.

He asked the media for their perspective on the statement issued by the Sangh the previous day. Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat views this sensitive issue with great gravity, suggesting that the organisation supports strict action against all those found guilty.

Dattatreya Hosabale had expressed dismay over the theft.

Before Mohan Bhagwat, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale had issued a statement condemning the incident in the strongest terms. He remarked that this unfortunate incident involving the alleged theft from donation boxes at the Ram Temple had hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees across the country and the world. He emphasised that the temple of Lord Shri Ram was built after generations of struggle, sacrifice, and dedication; therefore, such acts of negligence and fraud would not be tolerated.

Sangh demands strict punishment for the guilty.

The RSS also acknowledged the SIT’s serious investigation into the Ram Temple theft case. Hosabale demanded that anyone found guilty during the investigation should face severe legal punishment. Meanwhile, he has urged the Temple Trust not to treat this as a trivial incident. He called upon the Trust to rectify the shortcomings so that the faith of Ram devotees remains intact.

Opposition turns it into an issue.

Opposition political parties have been relentlessly targeting the ruling dispensation over the theft of temple offerings. Former Chief Minister and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav was the first to raise this issue. Subsequently, the review of CCTV footage lent further weight to his allegations. The government promptly constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter.
