New Delhi: Significant instability is currently being witnessed in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). People there have taken to the streets to stage massive protests against the Pakistani government. To control the demonstrators, Pakistani Rangers are resorting to lathi charges and are openly firing at them.
In just a few days, more than 50 protesters have lost their lives to gunfire from the Pakistani army. This situation threatens to spread instability across the region. The government has imposed bans on services like the internet in various parts of PoK, yet protesters continue to take to the streets against the administration.
Sardar Umar Nazir Kashmiri, a member of the Jammu-Kashmir Joint People’s Action Committee, has exposed the reality of the situation through social media, claiming that the death toll has already crossed 50.
Worsening Situation in Pakistan
The committee member made a significant claim, stating that hundreds of people were injured during the protests and reiterating that 50 people had died due to firing by the Pakistani army. He also announced plans for a major protest in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on July 31, 2026.
Many Pakistanis and Kashmiris, including former Senator Mushtaq Khan, participated in these events. Meanwhile, Umar Nazir Kashmiri expressed his gratitude regarding the protests held in Islamabad. He stated that he is currently present at the sit-in protest site at D-Chowk in Rawalakot, and the demonstration is ongoing.
He further stated that a large number of people have been shot dead over the past three or four days, with many others sustaining injuries. He alleged that direct fire was opened on peaceful protesters, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Significant remarks regarding the protest in Islamabad
Sharing important information, Umar Nazir Kashmiri stated that Senator Mushtaq organised a massive rally on July 31 at the G-10 Markaz in Islamabad. A large number of people from Pakistan and Kashmir participated in this rally, demonstrating their solidarity.
Umar Nazir expressed his gratitude to Senator Mushtaq Khan and all the organisers of the protest. He also thanked everyone from Pakistan and Kashmir who united to stage this major demonstration, describing it as a historic event. Umar Nazir expressed hope that people would continue to stand by him in the future and steadfastly raise their voices in support of the cause.
It is worth noting that the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have been up in arms against the government for quite some time. Pakistani Rangers and the army are unleashing havoc to control the crowds, and many lives have already been lost.
