New Delhi: People have been hit by a price hike right at the start of October. Indian petroleum companies have raised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders. On Thursday morning, the price of a commercial cylinder was increased by ₹62.50. This has dashed hopes, as there had been an expectation that commercial cylinder prices might drop on October 1st—but that did not happen.
LPG cylinder prices had also been raised previously in September. If you are planning to purchase a commercial cylinder following this hike, do not delay. You can check city-wise prices to clear up any confusion.

How much did prices rise in September?
In September, Indian petroleum companies increased the price of commercial cylinders by ₹9.50, bringing the cost to ₹2,747.50. Now, with today’s hike of ₹62.50, the price has reached ₹2,810.
This increase could directly impact the operating costs of hotels, restaurants, dhabas, catering services, and small businesses. For business owners, the rise in LPG expenses could eventually lead to higher prices for food and beverages.

Prices Had Risen in April-May As Well
It is worth noting that the prices of commercial gas cylinders had already increased in April and May. These hikes were implemented in view of the West Asia crisis and disruptions in energy supplies via the Strait of Hormuz. Oil companies had raised prices by amounts ranging from ₹195.50 to ₹214. During that period, prices were hiked by ₹993 per cylinder in a single instance. Subsequently, a further increase of ₹42 was implemented in June.
What is the status of LPG cylinders?
Indian petroleum companies have not made any changes to LPG cylinder prices; rates have remained stable. Although there was an expectation a few days ago that the price of domestic cylinders might see a slight drop, that did not happen. If you are planning to purchase an LPG cylinder, you can check the rates for your specific city.
