New Delhi: The Shri Ram Temple has been constructed in Ayodhya, drawing large numbers of devotees for darshan. The battle for the temple’s construction at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya was a long-drawn-out affair. Now, Hindu organisations have turned their attention to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi site in Mathura. Some Hindu groups assert that after Ram Lalla, Krishna Lalla will be enshrined there.
Plans are underway to build a grand temple for Lord Krishna in Mathura, similar to the Ram Temple. Representatives of the saint community, gathered at the Chitragupta Peeth in Mathura, have announced a kar seva (voluntary service/campaign) for the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi site. The date for this kar seva program has been set for December 6, 2026.
During the announcement, slogans such as “Krishna Lalla, we will come; we will build the temple right there” were raised. Additionally, Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj, the head of Chitragupta Peeth, has sought permission from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the kar seva and appealed for support.
Permission Sought via Letter to CM Yogi
Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj has written to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requesting permission for the kar seva. In the letter, he stated that they would march towards the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi site next month and were determined to liberate it.
He declared that they would not back down even if it required sacrificing their lives; their resolve is to liberate Shri Krishna. After Ram Janmabhoomi, it is now Mathura’s turn. They aim to build a grand, massive, and magnificent temple for Krishna Lalla in Mathura—one that people from every corner of the globe would come to see. The entire world would feel blessed to witness this other facet of Indian culture.
Questions Raised Regarding the Police
In his letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj complained that district administration officials were preventing them from moving forward. He noted that complaints regarding police personnel mistreating sadhus and saints had been lodged with the Superintendent of Police (SP), yet no action had been taken.
Furthermore, they will not back down despite pressure from the police and administration; a large number of sadhus and saints will gather in Mathura on December 6 to perform kar seva. The Chief Minister is requested to grant permission. The materials prepared for the kar seva and the Shilagram stones that had been procured were also suddenly removed overnight.
Launch of the campaign on August 9
Meanwhile, Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj stated that the community of saints in the Braj region is united in the resolve to build a grand Krishna temple at the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi site. A kar seva will be organised for this purpose, commencing on August 9. On that day, sadhus, saints, and devotees will gather at the Chitragupta Peeth Ashram.
A Yajna will be performed at 9:00 AM, followed by a grand Shila Pujan (foundation stone worship ceremony) accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras at 11:00 AM. At 12:00 PM, the campaign will be formally launched with the blowing of a conch shell, and details regarding the plan of action will be shared.
