Kosmos 482 spacecraft was launched by Soviet Union in 1970, it was launched for Venus but due to technical fault it was unable to go out of the Earth’s orbit and kept revolving around it, very soon this spacecraft is returning to Earth, it is returning to Earth after 53 years.

Cosmos 482 spacecraft was sent to Venus about 53 years ago in the 1970s which remained in Earth’s orbit due to technical fault. Now it is moving rapidly towards Earth after 53 years. As per scientists’ estimates, it may fall to Earth by May 10. As per scientists, it may crash at a speed of 242 kilometers per hour.
On which part of the earth can it fall?
Kosmos 482 spacecraft can fall at any part of the world between the north and south latitudes with great speed, however, it is mostly expected that it will fall in the sea area, so it will not pose much danger to the earth. Scientists are keeping a close eye on this event. In this mission, the landing capsule is present in orbit which is one meter in diameter and weighs 500 kg. Scientists say that it will not be completely destroyed even after entering the earth, some part of it will remain even after this which can collide with any part of the earth and cause damage.
It was launched to send it to Venus
Kosmos 482 was launched to Venus in 1972 under the Venera program and was designed to launch it to Venus and collect data from there. After its launch, it landed on the surface of Venus in July 1972 and collected and sent data for about 50 minutes, but due to a sudden technical fault, it kept revolving in the elliptical orbit of the Earth.
