Forest fires raise concerns, flames reach several areas

The forest fire in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh has raised concerns. Due to strong winds, the fire spread to many areas, after which the army and administration had to jointly launch a relief operation. To extinguish the fire, Mi-17 helicopters are bringing water from Sukhna Lake and spraying it.

With the increase in heat in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, incidents of forest fires have also started occurring. But this time the fire in Kasauli has increased people’s worries a lot. The fire that started in the forests gradually spread so much that its flames started reaching prestigious institutions and nearby settlements.

It is being told that the fire spread rapidly in many parts of Kasauli and a large area of forest came under its grip. The situation became more serious when the flames reached the vicinity of the Central Research Institute (CRI) and the famous Kasauli Club. Due to the fire and smoke, an atmosphere of fear and anxiety prevailed in the area.

According to local people, the fire spread rapidly due to intense heat and dry bushes. At many places, people saw huge clouds of smoke rising from a distance. It is not easy to control fire in hilly areas, as narrow roads and altitude make relief work difficult.

The administration and local teams were busy extinguishing the fire, but considering the gravity of the situation, additional help was needed. After this, relief and rescue operations were started on a large scale.

Kasauli

The fire is being extinguished by helicopter, water is being brought from Sukhna Lake.

Considering the severity of the fire, the help of Mi-17 helicopters was taken. This scene was different for the people also, because helicopters were seen flying continuously in the sky. According to the information, helicopters are reaching Kasauli after filling water from Sukhna Lake of Chandigarh and are spraying water in the fire affected areas.

The process of dropping water from helicopters was continued continuously to prevent the fire from spreading further. The teams present on the ground are also trying to extinguish the fire at their level. Fire brigade personnel, forest department employees and local administration are working together to control the situation.

Experts say that forest fires in hilly areas often change direction suddenly due to strong winds, which further increases the danger. For this reason, timely action is considered necessary.

The local administration has appealed to people not to go near the fire affected areas. As a precautionary measure, movement has also been restricted at some places so that there is no problem in relief work.

Why do cases of forest fires increase during the summer?

Every year in summer, incidents of forest fires occur in the hilly states. Dry leaves, strong sunlight and low humidity are considered to be the major reasons behind this. Sometimes even a small spark can engulf a big forest.

Experts believe that climate change and increasing heat have further increased the risk of such incidents. Forest fires not only harm plants and trees, but also pose a threat to wildlife and people living nearby.

This fire in Kasauli has once again raised the question whether more preparations are needed for the protection of forests or not. At present, the matter of relief is that the administration and rescue agencies are constantly monitoring the situation.

People’s hope now rests on the fire being completely controlled as soon as possible and any major damage being avoided.
