Job Racket Alert
Cases of international job and visa scams are increasing, with many young job seekers becoming the primary targets. These scams exploit the hopes of people looking for better career opportunities abroad.

What Are Visa Scams?
Fraudsters create fake consultancies and lure victims by promising overseas jobs or work visas. To appear genuine, they provide fabricated offer letters, visas, and flight tickets. Victims usually discover the truth only when they attempt to travel.
Who Do They Target?
People from all backgrounds can fall prey, but most victims are youth seeking overseas jobs with higher pay.

Warning Signs of a Scam
Agents demanding large commissions for visa approval – genuine visas are always processed online through official channels, and no embassy officer delivers visas in person. Social media job ads on Facebook, WhatsApp, or Telegram – often fake. Authentic companies post openings on platforms like LinkedIn or Indeed. Fake-looking offer letters, permits, and visas – always cross-check with the official embassy or government portals.
How to Stay Safe
- Track visa applications through ImmiAccount and verify details on Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO).
- If an agent has applied on your behalf, ask for their login credentials.
- File a complaint immediately if scammers misuse your personal information like passport, Aadhaar, or date of birth. Complaints can be lodged at cybercrime.gov.in or with the local police/cyber cell.
- If cheated with forged documents, report it with all evidence to authorities. This helps law enforcement track and act against fraudsters.
