IRCTC Reduces Rail Neer Price

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has cut the price of its popular packaged drinking water, Rail Neer, ahead of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate changes.

The maximum retail price (MRP) for a one-liter bottle has been lowered from ₹15 to ₹14.

The half-liter bottle now costs ₹9, down from ₹10.

This price revision is effective immediately and is expected to benefit millions of rail passengers who rely on Rail Neer for safe and affordable drinking water during their journeys.

Reason for the Price Cut

The move follows the recent reduction in GST rates on packaged drinking water. By lowering the MRP, IRCTC aims to ensure that passengers—especially those traveling in general and sleeper classes—continue to have access to clean drinking water at a more economical rate.

Impact on Travelers

With over 1.5 million passengers using Indian Railways daily, the cut will make a noticeable difference.
For example, a family of four purchasing four one-liter bottles during a trip will save ₹4 on each purchase. While modest, these savings can add up for frequent travelers and those on long-distance routes.

Introduced in 2003, Rail Neer has earned a reputation as a trusted brand among train passengers for its consistent quality and widespread availability.
