India vs Pakistan T20
The India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match is scheduled just months after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, in which 26 Indian tourists were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. The tragedy has intensified public anger, with many demanding a complete halt to sporting ties with Pakistan.
Opposition Slams BJP
Opposition parties and the families of the victims have urged the government and the BCCI to boycott the game. Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM chief, accused the BJP of prioritizing cricket revenues over national sentiment.
“How much money will the BCCI earn from one match—₹2,000 crore, ₹3,000 crore? When the Prime Minister once said that blood and water cannot flow together, how can cricket go on? Is money worth more than the lives of 26 citizens?” Owaisi questioned.

The victims’ families echoed similar emotions. Aishanya Dwivedi, the widow of one of those killed, demanded a boycott, saying:
“This match should not have been approved by the BCCI. What will Pakistan do with this money—fund more terrorism? Boycott this game and don’t switch on your televisions.”

BJP Ministers Defend Match
Union ministers, however, defended India’s participation, citing international obligations. Manohar Lal, Union Minister, argued that cricket should be kept separate from security concerns.
“These are two different issues. The match should not be criticized because it represents sporting spirit, and the players have worked hard. All decisions have been taken after due consideration,” he said.
