The Asia Cup 2025, slated to be held in the UAE, is set to feature a highly anticipated India versus Pakistan clash.

Because of the geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, the biannual Asia Cup event is anticipated to be held at a neutral location, most likely the United Arab Emirates. According to reports, the event will now take place at two locations in the United Arab Emirates, with the BCCI retaining the hosting rights. Originally, it was supposed to take place in India.

According to a number of media reports, the Indian cricket team may withdraw from the Asia Cup in the wake of the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the ensuing border clashes between India and Pakistan. BCCI, however, denied any such advancement.

The decision to play the competition in the United Arab Emirates was made at a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dhaka, which BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla attended virtually, according to news agency PTI. A final scheduling decision is still pending, though.

“In the United Arab Emirates, the BCCI will hold the Asia Cup. All of India’s games will probably be held in Dubai. Scheduling discussions are still ongoing,” an ACC source told PTI.

Are Pakistan and India in the same group?

This time, the event will take place in the Twenty20 International format. According to reports, India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group, which means they may face each other at least twice: once in the group stage and once in the Super Six, with a third match possible if both teams get to the final.

BCCI Denies Verification

An official announcement on the Asia Cup will be made in the next few days, according to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

Rajeev Shukla, our vice president, was present at the ACC meeting. He will give the members a briefing. In a few days, you will receive official information because I don’t believe in rumors,” BCCI secretary Saikia stated.

When Did India and Pakistan Last Clashed?

Recently, India and Pakistan faced off in a group stage encounter in the Champions Trophy in Dubai. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Pakistan, but due to the BCCI’s unwillingness to send a team, it was organized using a hybrid model, with India playing all of its matches—including the semifinal and final—in Dubai.
