Himant Biswa Sarma said that Kejriwal’s statement reflects his mindset. He mentioned that he has seen many politicians, but never one who speaks badly about his own homeland.

On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himant Biswa Sarma targeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal over his claim that Haryana is poisoning the water of the Yamuna. He said this statement reflects the mindset of the former Delhi CM. Himant Biswa Sarma also questioned how Kejriwal could make such an accusation against his home state, Haryana. The BJP leader added that he would prefer to die rather than speak badly about his birthplace.

Himant Biswa Sarma said, “Arvind Kejriwal has started a new story to distract from the issue of the polluted Yamuna River, claiming that Haryana is supplying polluted water to Delhi. How can he speak like this about his homeland? I would rather die than speak badly about my birthplace. Arvind Kejriwal’s statement reflects his mindset… I have seen many politicians, but I have never seen one who speaks wrongly about their own homeland.”

On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal accused BJP-ruled Haryana of mixing “poison” in the Yamuna River. He claimed that one-third of Delhi is struggling with a shortage of drinking water because of this. Kejriwal also alleged that people connected to the BJP are sending “poisoned” water to Delhi to create chaos and blame the AAP. He compared the act to the use of biological weapons and poisoning rivers, which are actions typically seen in the context of warring countries.

Kejriwal posted on X, stating, “BJP people from Haryana are mixing poison in the water and sending it to Delhi. If Delhi residents drink this water, many people will lose their lives. Can there be anything more disgusting than this? The poison being sent in the water cannot even be cleaned at the water treatment plants. To ensure the safety of Delhi’s people, we have had to cut off the water supply in several areas.” He claimed that the BJP wants to carry out a “mass murder” of Delhi’s people, but the AAP will not let that happen. Kejriwal added that the vigilant engineers of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) stopped the contaminated water from entering the capital. The former CM said, “If that water had reached Delhi and mixed with the drinking water, there would have been a mass massacre.”
