Divya Mittal said she will enter politics without joining any party.

Former IAS officer Divya Mittal has announced her entry into politics. The former 2013 batch officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre has said that she will not join any political party and will try to work directly with the public. Calling Uttar Pradesh his ‘karmabhoomi’, he said that he would start his political journey from here.

This statement of Divya Mittal came after she resigned from the IAS. She resigned in August 2026 after serving in the administrative service for nearly 13 years, and her resignation was accepted in September. After this, there were discussions about his entry into politics.

In her video message, Mittal said that she wants to work with the people and not with any established party in politics. He talked about raising the problems of the citizens, which according to him often remain pending despite reaching the government offices.

She also responded to speculation about Rahul Gandhi and the Congress.

After Divya Mittal left the IAS, speculation about her joining the Congress surfaced on social media. These speculations were also fuelled by a now-deleted social media post by BJP spokesperson Prashant Umrao, in which he claimed that Mittal had allegedly met Rahul Gandhi.

Mittal’s latest statement does not mention joining any political party. She clarified that her political debut will not be under the banner of any party and she will move forward towards building her own political platform by joining hands with the citizens.

In this way, his announced plan is currently different from the earlier speculations related to Congress regarding his entry into politics. He has not yet formally announced his decision to contest elections from any party, assembly seat or constituency.

Using IAS experience in politics

Divya Mittal cited her administrative experience as a key reason for entering politics. He said that during his service he came across many such cases where despite the approval of government schemes, they could not be fully implemented.

She mentioned issues like delay in construction of schools, land related matters, bad roads and paper leak in competitive examinations. According to Mittal, these experiences inspired him to move beyond administration and work directly in the political process.

She says that through politics she wants to raise the voice of those people whose problems do not easily reach the government system. He has spoken of placing issues of accountability and public interest at the center of his political efforts.

Calling Uttar Pradesh her “karmabhoomi” (workplace)

Divya Mittal said that her political journey would begin in Uttar Pradesh, her “karmabhoomi.” She has held administrative responsibilities in the Uttar Pradesh cadre for a long time and has worked in many districts of the state.

During his administrative tenure, Mittal worked on issues related to rural areas, education, infrastructure and government schemes. She has also mentioned experiences related to these areas in his political message.

However, it is not yet clear whether she will contest from any seat in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections or what the nature of her political initiative will be. At present he has talked about working independently among the public.

He has appealed to people from different sections including teachers, farmers, students, doctors, employees and lawyers to join his political efforts. For this, he also shared the medium of contact in his video message.

At present, it is clear from her statement that instead of joining any existing political party, she wants to move forward towards creating an independent political platform. In the coming times, the picture regarding the structure and electoral role of this platform may become clearer.
