Delhi Weather

New Delhi: Residents of Delhi, take note, a spell of rain is set to begin as the monsoon arrives. The rainfall could be intense enough to make stepping out of the house difficult. Although the monsoon has already entered the capital, resulting in cloudy skies and drizzles, the absence of rain on Friday caused temperatures to rise again. A fresh spell of rain is expected to pick up from July 5 and continue until July 7. Heavy rainfall is also likely in areas adjacent to Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rain across various parts of the country. Further weather updates are provided below.

Rain to Bring Down Delhi’s Temperature

According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall is likely to cause Delhi’s temperature to drop again. The minimum temperature is expected to hover around 28.1 degrees Celsius. Regarding maximum temperatures, Palam recorded 36.1°C, Lodhi Road 35.8°C, the Ridge 36.9°C, and Aya Nagar 35.3°C.

Early Friday morning, between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM, light showers occurred in areas including Safdarjung, Palam, and Lodhi. The IMD forecasts light rain and thunderstorms for July 4, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 35°C and the minimum around 27°C.

Additionally, a spell of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to continue on July 4, with temperatures ranging from a maximum of 35°C to a minimum of 27°C. Moderate rainfall is anticipated on July 5.

Monsoon Activity Currently Weak

According to the IMD, while the monsoon has fully arrived, its activity currently appears quite weak. A wait of two days is required before heavy rainfall sets in. Monsoon conditions have fully established themselves across North India, including Delhi; the monsoon appears active in the region stretching from northern Rajasthan to the Gangetic plains. Due to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal, easterly winds are expected to move towards North India.

Weather Update for UP

According to the Meteorological Department, significant changes in the monsoon are expected. Rain accompanied by strong winds is anticipated in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Saharanpur.

Additionally, alerts for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms have been issued for several districts, including Meerut, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, and Prayagraj; there is also a risk of lightning strikes in these areas. In the capital, Lucknow, the temperature is expected to reach 37 degrees, though cooler conditions may be felt following rainfall. The temperature is likely to hover around 31 degrees on Saturday.
