New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Meerut that left everyone shaken, a wife murdered her husband and stuffed his body into a blue drum. Now, the court has sentenced the guilty parties, Muskan Rastogi and Sahi,l to death for this gruesome murder. Deeming them heinous offenders, the court handed down the capital punishment. Additionally, the court ordered both convicts to pay fines of ₹50,000 and ₹20,000, respectively. Both accused were produced before the court via video conferencing from the district jail. The court pronounced the sentence after carefully examining the evidence.

This high-profile Meerut murder case had shocked the nation. Similar cases have since come to light across the country, and such verdicts will likely help curb such incidents.

Convicted Earlier

The court had previously convicted Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil, in the Meerut murder case on September 30, 2026. District Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra delivered the verdict, while the date for sentencing was set for October 14. The trial regarding the murder of the husband, Saurabh Rajput, had taken place in July 2025.

Over the course of court proceedings spanning approximately 13 months and 126 hearings, the statements of more than 22 witnesses were recorded. The family of the deceased, Saurabh Rajput, had pleaded for the death penalty for both accused. The victim’s brother, Rahul, stated that they had hoped for justice from the very beginning. He reiterated their consistent demand: that the perpetrators face the same fate they inflicted upon his brother.

The blue drum went viral.

There was widespread discussion after Saurabh Rajput’s dismembered body was found inside a blue drum following his murder. The blue drum became a major topic of conversation on social media, and numerous memes featuring it were created. Saurabh’s wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil, are accused of murdering him and stuffing his body into the blue drum. The police arrested Muskan and Sahil and sent them to jail on March 19 last year.
