The ritual baths at the Maha Kumbh continue in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit the Maha Kumbh on Saturday. This visit comes after a stampede occurred in the area, which resulted in 30 deaths and 90 injuries. The stampede took place on January 29, during the Makar Sankranti festival. Following the incident, CM Yogi Adityanath had appealed to people to perform their baths at the nearest ghats to avoid overcrowding.
CM Yogi Adityanath to visit Satu Baba Ashram
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Satu Baba Ashram in Sector 21 and the Bharat Seva Shram Camp in Sector 5 during his trip. He will also meet with representatives from various countries at the Mela Circuit House. A 118-member delegation, including mission heads, their spouses, and diplomats from 77 countries, is also visiting the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj today. This visit comes after the stampede at the Maha Kumbh, and tight security measures have been put in place.
Three-member team investigating stampede
The state government has announced compensation of 25 lakh rupees each for the families of those who died in the stampede. A three-member investigation team has been formed to look into the cause and circumstances of the stampede and offer suggestions to prevent similar incidents in the future. The judicial commission, led by former judge Harsh Kumar, includes former IAS officer DK Singh and former IPS officer VK Gupta. The commission is expected to submit its report to CM Yogi Adityanath within a month. The focus of the commission is to ensure such incidents do not happen again and to make the event more secure.
