Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has been in the news for new schemes and announcements since assuming office. On Monday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced that during the upcoming Pongal festival, under the Annapurna Super 6 scheme, female heads of households will receive three free LPG cylinders annually. Vijay has given women a significant gift. He shared that the Vijay government will spend approximately ₹4,000 crore annually on this program. This scheme will benefit millions of families through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, benefiting millions of families.
What was the decision made in the Assembly?
In his address to the Assembly, CM Vijay stated that this scheme will cover millions of families, and that the benefits of this scheme will be available to all families whose annual income does not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. Under this, all economically weaker sections, families of small and marginal farmers, and families of persons with disabilities will benefit. It should be noted that the benefits of this scheme are directly directed towards women.
Free cylinders will be provided for three years
The Chief Minister has announced that women will receive free cylinders for three years. This benefit will be available to all women facing financial hardship. The Chief Minister stated that it is his duty to ensure their welfare. Therefore, under the Annapurna Super 6 scheme, three free gas cylinders will be provided every year. He also stated that preparations have already begun and this scheme will be implemented by the upcoming Pongal festival in January, for which crores of rupees have been allocated.
The government also addressed women’s empowerment. The Chief Minister stated that the government is working to ensure the safety, social progress, and livelihood security of women across the state and is launching schemes from time to time.
Free Bus Service for Women
In addition, CM Vijay has provided another benefit for women and transgender individuals. To further strengthen women’s safety, CM Vijay has decided to expand the scope of free bus travel for women and transgender passengers starting October 2nd, Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
Under this expanded transport scheme, women and transgender individuals will travel free on buses.
Apart from this, CM Vijay thalapati has also announced a gift for the new born baby in which he has announced to give a gold ring to every new born baby and it has already started this.
