The new government in Tamil Nadu is constantly in the headlines for its decisions. Once again, CM Vijay has taken a decision that will distinguish him as a better and more effective CM than other states. Significant news is emerging regarding Tamil Nadu’s popular Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The state government is now planning to serve chicken biryani as part of the mid-day meal to children in government schools. The state Education Minister himself presented this proposal to CM Vijay. If approved, it will be a good and healthy meal for government school children.
History Recalled
As the discussion on the plan to serve chicken biryani to children in the mid-day meal began, the Education Minister also recalled history. He said that every government has incorporated programs into the mid-day meal to promote children’s development and nutrition. He explained that the scheme was first introduced by K. Kamaraj. Subsequently, many others added additional foods, such as Kalaignar Karunanidhi, who added eggs, and then M.J.R. launched a nutrition diet, which included eggs in meals throughout the week. Continuing this tradition, he announced that the plan to include chicken biryani in mid-day meals is being expanded.
Waiting for the CM’s Proposal
According to information received, this proposal has not yet been passed; it is currently under consideration by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. A final decision has not yet been made. It is believed that the plan will first be discussed in detail and only then will it be approved.
The Government is Launching a Nutrition-Rich Scheme
The Tamil Nadu government has always focused on government school programs. In this context, the state government is placing greater emphasis on nutrition-rich programs. The idea of providing nutritious food in mid-day meals was first conceived and initiated by former Chief Minister Kamaraj, and this tradition has been carried forward by successive governments. Successive governments have focused on improving mid-day meals and ensuring nutritious meals. Additionally, several years ago, in 2022, the DMK government launched a breakfast scheme called the National Breakfast Scheme. The goal of this scheme, common to all governments, is to ensure that children receive two nutritious meals a day.
At present, the Education Minister has placed this proposal before CM Vinay. Now everyone’s eyes are on how CM Vijay will look at this proposal and whether it gets approval or not. Everyone’s eyes are also on this. If this proposal is passed, then it will be a good and nutritious food in the mid-day meal.
