New Delhi: The country’s robust and reliable investigative agency is currently cracking down on cases of bribery and fraud, actively arresting the accused involved. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has carried out a significant operation by arresting a proclaimed offender who had been absconding for over a decade.
The accused used to pose as a Lok Sabha employee and extort money from people by promising them jobs. He had swindled ₹50,000 from an individual under the pretext of securing a job in Parliament. CBI officials disclosed this information regarding the man, who had been evading capture for a long time, making his arrest difficult.

Case Registered in 2009
According to officials, a case was registered on July 13, 2009, against Jitendra Pathak, who was accused of swindling ₹50,000 by promising employment. At the time, it was alleged that he posed as a Lok Sabha employee and deceived a person by promising a job in Parliament, thereby defrauding them of the money.
A CBI spokesperson stated that following the completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed against Jitendra Pathak and other accused individuals. However, since the filing of the charge sheet in December 2009, the accused had never appeared in court during the hearings.
The investigative agency reported that continuous efforts were made to locate the accused during the proceedings, but these attempts had previously been unsuccessful, yielding no leads.
What Did the CBI Spokesperson Say?
Following the arrest, the CBI spokesperson stated that after completing all due legal procedures, a special court had declared Jitendra Pathak a proclaimed offender on September 28, 2016. According to the spokesperson, information gathered during the investigation revealed that Pathak was residing in Ludhiana, Punjab.

He added that, utilising technical analysis, a CBI team executed a well-planned operation and arrested Pathak in Ludhiana on Wednesday. The accused had reportedly been absconding for quite some time, and a search for him was underway.
