BSNL ₹199 Plan: 2GB/Day With Unlimited Calls
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has rolled out a budget-friendly monthly prepaid pack priced at ₹199. According to the BSNL website, the plan comes with 28 days of validity and offers 2GB of data per day. After the daily quota is used, the internet speed drops to 40 kbps.
Subscribers also get unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day under this plan.

Cheaper Than Private Telcos
While BSNL provides 4G data, private telecom operators such as Jio, Airtel, and Vi currently do not have a 2GB-per-day plan under ₹200.
Reliance Jio: ₹349 for 2GB/day, 28 days, plus JioTV, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS/day.
Airtel: ₹349 for 2GB/day of 5G data, 28 days, with 100 SMS/day, unlimited calls, access to 20+ OTT services, and a 6-month Apple Music subscription.
Vodafone Idea (Vi): ₹408 for 2GB/day, 28 days, unlimited calls, 100 SMS/day, 64 kbps post-usage speed, and a Sony Liv membership.

Market Share Decline
Despite the attractive pricing, BSNL’s customer base continues to shrink.
According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data for July 2025, BSNL lost about 1.01 lakh subscribers, and MTNL also reported a decline. Together, the public-sector telecom operators now hold less than 8% of the Indian mobile market.
By contrast, Reliance Jio added 4.83 lakh new users in July, while Airtel gained 4.64 lakh. Vodafone Idea lost around 3.59 lakh customers in the same month.
