New Delhi: As the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections draw closer, the war of words among political leaders is intensifying. On one hand, the ruling party and the opposition are at loggerheads over the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir. On the other hand, all is not well among BJP leaders in UP either.
Brajbhushan Rajput, the BJP MLA from the Charkhari assembly constituency in Mahoba, has made a statement that has sparked widespread speculation in political circles. Speaking at an event in Etawah, he launched a scathing attack on a minister from his own government without explicitly naming anyone.
Aiming at his detractors, he remarked that raising the voices of the poor and farmers caused “stomach aches” for certain people. He added, in an angry tone, that while he had not yet “picked up the sword,” he was prepared to wage a struggle through democratic means. This statement has raised questions regarding the unity of the BJP leaders.

Statement made at an event in Etawah
Brajbhushan Rajput had arrived as the chief guest at the ‘Mission Avantika: Veerangana Avantibai Lodhi Pratibha Samman Samaroh’ (Talent Felicitation Ceremony) held in Etawah. Addressing the Lodhi-Rajput community at the event, he made several statements that are being viewed as politically significant.
In his address, the MLA mentioned that a large number of poor people and farmers approach him with a multitude of grievances. He recounted that when he took up these issues with officials—and even clashed with a minister from his own party when necessary to ensure their resolution—some people did not appreciate his actions.
The clash with the minister caused discomfort to others.
During his address in Etawah, MLA Brajbhushan Rajput reiterated that a large number of farmers and poor people come to him with their problems. He said, “When I began fighting for the cause of the poor and farmers, even taking on a minister from my own party, it caused great discomfort to many.” He added that some people even started talking about ending his political career.

Warning to Opponents
Lashing out at his opponents, he said, “OH, how naive ones, stop trying to measure the ocean while sitting on the riverbank. Right now, while remaining within the bounds of propriety, I am merely advocating for justice for the public, farmers, and the youth.”
Sword Yet to be Drawn
During his address, Brijbhushan Rajput remarked, “I haven’t even drawn my sword yet. I have a long history of wielding the sword. However, we live in a democratic system now, and I am fully prepared to fight using democratic means.”
During the event, the MLA also appealed to the youth of the community to unite. He stated that if the youth of the Lodhi community stood shoulder to shoulder, the community would gain greater strength across the state. He added that this unity would also help the community establish a new identity in Uttar Pradesh.
