Bank Holiday

New Delhi: Any business day of the month is considered significant for financial transactions. Tomorrow, Monday, marks the first day of the new business week—a time when many people typically attend to bank-related tasks. If you have any pending bank work, it is advisable to check for any scheduled holidays.

Failing to verify this could result in a wasted trip, causing unnecessary inconvenience. You can easily check whether banks in your city or town are open without needing to go anywhere. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced bank holidays for various states.

It should be noted that banks will not be closed nationwide tomorrow; holidays are applicable only in select states. Therefore, it is recommended that you consult the RBI’s holiday calendar.

Details of holidays from October 26 to November 1

Did you know that there will be four bank holidays between October 26 and November 1? Tomorrow, Monday, public and private sector banks such as the State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank will remain closed in several states.

Which states will have bank holidays on Monday?

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s calendar, banks in Jammu & Kashmir will remain closed on Monday to mark ‘Accession Day’ (Vilay Diwas). This is a public holiday in the region, commemorating the signing of the Instrument of Accession with India by the then-Maharaja, Hari Singh, on October 26, 1947.

Additionally, banks in Tripura will remain closed for Lakshmi Puja. Due to the observance of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, banks will also be closed in states including Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, banks will remain open as usual on Monday.

Find out when banks will remain closed in the coming days of October

October 29 (Thursday) – Banks in Himachal Pradesh will remain closed on the occasion of Karva Chauth.

October 31 (Saturday) – Banks in Gujarat will remain closed on account of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.

What services are available during bank holidays?

For your information, according to the Reserve Bank of India, account holders can continue to access online services even on bank holidays. You can utilise net banking services even when banks are closed. Furthermore, cash withdrawals via ATMs and UPI transactions will remain fully operational. However, services such as cheque clearing, loan processing, offline credit card transactions, and cash withdrawals at bank branches will not be available.
