New Delhi: The issue of the theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir continues to escalate, with eight accused individuals already arrested. Furthermore, Champat Rai, who held a key position in the Trust, has resigned. Meanwhile, various organisations are taking the matter of the theft of offerings quite seriously. A significant decision has also been made regarding the upcoming meeting organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
The VHP has shifted the venue of the meeting from Ayodhya directly to Delhi; in other words, the meeting originally scheduled for Ayodhya will now be held in Delhi. There is uncertainty regarding whether Champat Rai—who has resigned from his post in the Trust—will attend this meeting. Initially, the meeting was planned to take place in Ayodhya between June 25 and June 29, but the schedule has now been changed to July 18–19. Additionally, the number of attendees has been reduced.

How many office-bearers will attend the VHP meeting?
According to sources, 350 office-bearers were initially expected to attend the VHP meeting, but the total number has now been cut down. Reports indicate that only 150 office-bearers will now participate. It was stated that the organisation has reduced the number of representatives from each state to two.
Previously, the quota was set at four representatives per state. Furthermore, doubts remain about whether Champat Rai, who has stepped down from his position in the Trust, will attend the meeting. Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is conducting a serious investigation that has already led to significant revelations; other prominent names could be implicated in this misappropriation.
Uncertainty regarding Champat Rai’s participation
It remains unclear whether Champat Rai will attend the VHP meeting in Delhi. VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal surprised everyone with a significant statement, explaining that the meeting was rescheduled because the Special Investigation Team is currently conducting its proceedings. The venue of the meeting has been changed with this in mind.

Bansal further stated that an SIT and a police investigation team are probing the allegations regarding the theft of temple offerings. This is why the Central Management Committee decided to hold the meeting in Delhi instead of Ayodhya. According to sources, Champat Rai currently holds the position of International Vice President of the VHP; consequently, the situation regarding his participation remains unclear. He mentioned that VHP International President Alok Kumar, Central Organising Secretary Milind Parande, and Central General Secretary Bajrang Lal Bagra are likely to attend the meeting.
Action against Champat Rai likely
According to sources, a meeting of the Ram Mandir Trust is scheduled for July 6, before any action by the VHP. Champat Rai’s resignation could be accepted during this meeting. Close attention is being paid to any major decisions concerning Champat Rai and Anil Mishra during the Trust meeting. The VHP aims to maintain a clean image at both national and international levels.
Additionally, the organisation is considering taking action against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao. However, the VHP has not yet made an official statement on the matter. Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, who are facing allegations of misappropriating donations, have already tendered their resignations from their respective posts in the Trust.
