Arvind Kejriwal has given his first statement after the defeat in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. He shared a two-minute, eight-second video on the social media platform X. In the video, he congratulated the BJP on their victory and accepted the people’s decision. He also expressed hope that the expectations of Delhi’s people would be fulfilled. Kejriwal mentioned that when he was given power for 10 years, he worked hard to improve the lives of Delhi’s citizens. Now that he has been given the role of the opposition, he will fulfill this responsibility with full dedication. He assured his supporters that he will continue to work for the betterment of the people.

Arvind Kejriwal said that he did not enter politics for power. His party believes that politics is a way to serve people, and even without being in power, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will continue to work for the people. He concluded by congratulating AAP workers, saying, “You fought the election very well. You had to face many challenges, but you worked hard and gave your best. Congratulations on that.”

AAP’s Big Defeat in Delhi

In the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP won more than 60 seats, but this time, the party is struggling with just 22 seats. Except for CM Atishi, all major AAP leaders lost. Atishi also faced a tough contest but eventually defeated BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri. Arvind Kejriwal lost by over 4,000 votes, while Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were also defeated. Congress and AIMIM played a role in AAP’s loss. AIMIM took votes in two Muslim-majority seats, while Congress cut AAP’s votes in other areas, helping BJP secure a victory.

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has achieved a big victory in Delhi. The party has defeated the Aam Aadmi Party by a large margin. Now, the BJP will be in power in the capital city. The next important question is who will be chosen as the Chief Minister of Delhi from the BJP.
