New Delhi: Preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are in full swing, with everyone putting in their utmost effort. The UP election will prove to be a major litmus test for the Yogi government, while the SP (Samajwadi Party) also faces a rigorous examination. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has already begun working day and night to secure victory in the polls.
SP President and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav held a meeting with his spokespersons today that lasted nearly two hours. During the meeting, he advised them to be well-prepared before participating in TV debates. Party national spokespersons Rajiv and Rajkumar Bhati were also present. Additionally, Yadav offered several other pieces of advice.
Going into a debate unprepared is farcical.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav remarked that appearing in a debate without preparation becomes farcical. He further stated that they must avoid issues related to caste that could hurt sentiments. Yadav emphasised that one should not speak without preparation. He also noted that remaining silent can sometimes be more important than speaking on every issue; a powerful message can often be conveyed through silence.
Spokespersons must present the party’s stance seriously
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav offered significant advice to his spokespersons. He noted that we live in the era of social media, where statements go viral rapidly. He added that a 10-second reel can either build or damage the party’s image. Yadav urged party spokespersons to present the party’s position with seriousness.
They should issue statements or participate in debates only after gathering information on the respective issues. A few days ago in Raebareli, the SP chief had stated that the ‘PDA’ wave is sweeping across the state. He described the election as a contest between the BJP and the PDA, adding that this time, the ‘bulldozer’ would roll. Akhilesh Yadav launched his ‘PDA Rath Yatra’ from Rae Bareli.
He stated that while they are engaging in positive politics, the BJP practices negative politics. Akhilesh Yadav remarked that the entire state of Uttar Pradesh is witnessing that those who wield the ‘bulldozer’ will not be able to escape the PDA movement. This time, the ‘bulldozer of votes’ will roll out and demolish them for good.
When will the election be announced?
For context, the dates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are likely to be announced either in late December or the first week of January 2027. The Election Commission of India may conduct the elections in seven phases, just as before. The first phase of voting is expected to take place in the second week of February. Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, such claims are being made in media reports.
