New Delhi: Dhirendra Shastri, the head of Bageshwar Dham, finds himself embroiled in controversy once again. Shocking statements he made first regarding Lord Krishna and now regarding Lord Shri Ram are going viral on social media. Following these negative remarks about the deities, Dhirendra Shastri is facing persistent trolling. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has targeted him by sharing a video.

In the video shared by the SP chief, Dhirendra Shastri is heard claiming that Lord Ram had five fathers. Expressing his displeasure, Akhilesh Yadav demanded that all of Shastri’s scheduled programs be cancelled, accusing him of making derogatory remarks about Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.

Akhilesh Yadav targets Dhirendra Shastri.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has launched a sharp attack on Dhirendra Shastri. He alleged that offensive comments have been made—first about Lord Krishna, and now about Lord Ram. Sharing the video, Yadav wrote, “At whose behest is this anti-Sanatan figure acting? First, a controversial video regarding Lord Krishna surfaced, and now, indecent remarks are being circulated concerning Lord Ram’s father.

“For the crime of disrupting social harmony, all his programs should be cancelled. Now, true followers of Sanatan Dharma will ‘write his ‘parchi’ (a reference to the slips Shastri uses for his predictions/revelations).” He further questioned why those who follow the Sanatan tradition remain silent, especially in the land of Baba Vishwanath, while this ‘Baba’ continues to offend first by insulting Lord Krishna, and now, reportedly, by insulting the father of Lord Shri Ram.

Previous controversy over remarks about Lord Krishna

Dhirendra Shastri had previously stirred controversy with his comments regarding Lord Krishna. In a video circulating on social media, he compares Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, making remarks about Krishna’s stance, the posture of his waist and neck, and the way he plays the flute. Following this, MP Pappu Yadav even approached the Sansad Marg police station to file an FIR against Dhirendra Shastri. As the controversy escalated, Dhirendra Shastri issued a clarification via a video.

Dhirendra Shastri’s Clarification

It is worth noting that, in light of the growing controversy, Dhirendra Shastri provided a clarification. He explained that his remarks were merely an expression of affectionate reproach (ulahna) directed at Lord Krishna. He noted that people are accusing him of being anti-Krishna based on only a portion of his video. He emphasised that his intention was never to create a distinction between Lord Ram and Lord Krishna; they are the same, with no difference between them. He further added, “Nevertheless, if anyone has been hurt by my words or the sentiment behind them, I offer my sincere apologies.”
