The Hyundai i20, one of the most popular premium hatchbacks, is set to arrive in a completely new avatar. Hyundai has released the first teaser of the fourth-generation i20, which is expected to make its global debut in July. Built on an all-new platform, the upcoming model will feature a sharper design, a more modern cabin, and several advanced technologies. The new i20 is expected to come with premium features, improved safety systems, and hybrid technology for better efficiency. With these major upgrades, Hyundai aims to raise the standards in the hatchback segment and attract more buyers worldwide.

New Hyundai i20

The next-generation Hyundai i20 is expected to look very different from the current model. It is being built on Hyundai’s new H-Architecture, which will improve both structural strength and cabin space. The teaser shows that the large front grille of the existing model has been replaced with a more upright and bold front design. It also features Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and a wide lighting bar, giving the car a futuristic appearance. From the side, a distinctive kink near the rear door adds character, while connected LED tail lamps at the back provide a modern, sharp, and premium look.

Best Features and High-Performance

The Hyundai i20 has always been known as a feature-rich and high-performance premium hatchback, and the fourth-generation model is expected to take things a step further. The cabin is likely to receive major upgrades, including a large curved display that combines the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster into a single unit. Other expected features include a redesigned steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone connectivity and charging, a sunroof, and dual-zone climate control. Hyundai may also equip the new i20 with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making it one of the most technologically advanced cars in its segment.

Engine Options and Technology

The next-generation Hyundai i20 is expected to continue with the same engine options as the current model, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. However, Hyundai may introduce mild-hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency and overall performance. Reports also suggest that the new i20 could be offered with a flex-fuel engine option in some global markets. These updates would make the hatchback more efficient and environmentally friendly. Hyundai is expected to launch the upgraded 2026 i20 in India by the end of this year, following its global debut.
