Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor feature in Bollywood’s eagerly awaited romantic comedy Param Sundari has had a sluggish start at the box office. The film, which is positioned as Sidharth’s major theatrical return following a two-year break, is expected to earn approximately Rs 7 crore on its first day of release.
Weak Opening Despite Star Cast for Param Sundari
Following the success of Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, the Maddock Films-produced Tushar Jalota film, which was initially scheduled for release on July 25, was moved to late August. Although the delay was intended to prevent conflicts, it seems to have slowed down the audience’s momentum.
By 8 p.m. on its first day, Param Sundari had made Rs 4.32 crore, with an overall occupancy rate of only 10.64%, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Even with 4,908 shows across the country, the first box office results were not what was anticipated for a new Sidharth-Janhvi collaboration.
In contrast, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, made Rs 33 lakh on its sixteenth day, showing that Param Sundari’s debut is nonetheless modest considering its scope and star power.

It takes the entire 136 minutes of the movie to establish its footing, and only in the final 30 minutes does it manage to find both romance and com.
By then, Param (Sidharth Malhotra) and Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor) have completed their homestay in a small Keralan town and entered the lengthy second act, which only gets interesting when supporting actors Manjot Singh (the hero’s best friend) and Renji Panicker (the heroine’s brusque uncle) appear. This leads to their DDLJ moment, where you can briefly see the spark between the attractive leads.
