In 1975, Rajinikanth made his cinematic debut.
Rajinikanth celebrated his 50th year in the business on April 15 of this year. In 1975, he debuted in the movie “Apoorva Raagangal,” directed by K. Balachander. Recently, on August 14, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film “Jailer” was released in theaters. Along with Rajinikanth, the major cast includes Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Satyaraj, Upendra, and Aamir Khan.
Rajinikanth replied to PM Modi’s post by writing,
Respected Narendra Modi ji, I sincerely thank you for your good wishes. It is a matter of pride for me to receive such honourable words, especially from a leader whom I have greatly respected for a long time. Thank you for your words. Jai Hind.

Rajinikanth had declared his intention to run for office.
In a bold declaration made on December 31, 2017, Rajinikanth declared his intention to run for all 234 Tamil Nadu Assembly seats in 2021, marking the beginning of his political career.

This political aspiration, however, was short-lived, since he completely left politics in July 2021 after disbanding his group, Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM). Rajinikanth remained a staunch supporter of PM Modi’s leadership even after he left active politics. He celebrated his victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha and endorsed the Article 370 ruling in Kashmir, where he famously likened Modi-Shah to Krishna-Arjun.
His backing persisted after Modi won a third term in 2024.
