Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the railway ministry has not received any of the request to change the name of the Gareeb Rath Express. He also made this statement in response to a question raised by congress MP From amritsar, gurjeet singh aujla. the Minister clearly stated that there is no plan to rename the train. this clarification was important as there were rumors about a possible name change. the Garib Rath express is a popular low-cost train, and any news about its name or service often creates the Public Interest and concern. MP Gurjeet singh Aujla has asked whether the government is aware that some passengers feel the name ‘Garib Rath’ hurts their self-respect. he said that the name might seen as disrespectful by certain travelers. he also asked if the name still matches the aspirations of the rising middle class, who are the regular users of this train. Aujla raised the concern that the name may no longer reflect the changing profile and dignity of its passengers. his question highlighted the need to consider whether the name suits the present day image and expectations of those who travel by the train.

The Minister also clearly stated that so far the railway ministry has not received any formal request to change the name of the Garib Rath Express and no such proposal is under consideration.
