UP Weather
The monsoon has intensified across Uttar Pradesh, bringing widespread rain to various parts of the state. According to the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), as many as 46 districts are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours. In addition, a lightning alert has been issued for 64 districts, including the state capital, Lucknow.

Monsoon Activity Picks Up Across Uttar Pradesh
The arrival of strong monsoon winds has triggered a fresh spell of rainfall in multiple areas of the state. Cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Bareilly have already seen showers since early morning, and the IMD has warned that these conditions are likely to continue through the day. Heavy clouds and reduced visibility have affected normal life in some regions, and waterlogging has been reported in low-lying areas.
IMD Issues Red and Orange Alerts
The Indian Meteorological Department has placed several districts under Red and Orange Alerts, urging residents to remain cautious. The Red Alert signifies very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, while the Orange Alert indicates heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Authorities have advised farmers, construction workers, and school administrations to take preventive measures and avoid open areas during thunderstorms.
Impact on Temperature
Thanks to the continuous rainfall, daytime temperatures have dropped by 2–4°C in many regions. Cities like Lucknow and Kanpur are witnessing pleasant weather conditions, a relief after the scorching heat of June and early July.
