CJP Leader

New Delhi: The troubles for the leaders of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) are mounting. Having recently been released from Tihar Jail after seven days, Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka are now working on their next course of action. In the midst of this, a development has emerged concerning CJP co-convener Sourav Das: he has been directed by the SEM (Special Executive Magistrate) Court to submit proof of his residence in Delhi as part of the process for executing a ‘peace bond.’

The SEM Court issued this directive, which Sourav Das must now comply with. Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka had been granted bail by the court a few days ago, following their detention in connection with an alleged violation of a peace bond. During the proceedings, the court requested proof of Sourav Das’s residence in Delhi; however, he failed to submit the necessary documentation, including a rent agreement.

Sourav Das unable to submit rent agreement

During the hearing, the court noted that Sourav Das had not provided any documents such as a rent agreement, deed, or lease to establish his residence. Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka appeared in court on Saturday, accompanied by their sureties. The court has scheduled the verification of these documents for November 17.

Meanwhile, Neha Bora, national president of AISA (All India Students’ Association), who was also involved in the protests,s has refused to sign a peace bond. She stated that despite failing to secure relief from the High Court, she would not execute a peace bond before the SEM Court. Bora further argued that signing such a bond implies that the ‘peace bond’ mechanism could be invoked to suppress democratic, peaceful protests in the country.

Neha Bora raises questions regarding the Delhi Police.

AISA national president Neha Bora has firmly refused to sign the bond. In doing so, she has also questioned the actions of the Delhi Police concerning law and order. She stated that instead of maintaining law and order, we witnessed the use of batons and sticks. She added that, in the process, journalists also faced violence at the hands of the police and other security personnel.

You are all well aware of this. The national president of AISA stated that they received a notice, which claimed that the police had information suggesting they might breach the peace. They were not provided with a copy of any FIR; they were simply told that they would breach the peace.
