New Delhi: The controversy surrounding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar shows no signs of subsiding. Leaders from various opposition political parties, along with student and social organisations, continue to voice their opposition against him. A significant hearing is scheduled to take place in the Supreme Court today. On October 15, the Supreme Court will hear a petition filed by 13 leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

The hearing will be conducted by a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi. Opposition leaders have approached the Supreme Court regarding alleged irregularities in the elections. Furthermore, the court will also hear a contempt matter concerning police action in Delhi during a protest by the CJP (Citizens for Justice and Peace), as well as the resulting disruption of movement on metro lines and roads. This matter will also be heard by the bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi. All eyes are on today’s Supreme Court proceedings.

Petition filed against sloganeering in court.

In addition to these matters, other petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court. A petition has been submitted regarding the commotion and sloganeering that occurred when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders arrived at the Supreme Court premises. This petition is also set to be heard today. The petition seeks the initiation of contempt proceedings against these leaders and requests that they be barred from using the court premises.

Questions raised in a letter to Rahul Gandhi

The ‘Dr. Ambedkar Society for Thoughts, Actions, and Consciousness’ (DASTAK) has raised questions regarding the activities of the ‘INDIA’ bloc. In an open letter to Rahul Gandhi, the organisation has questioned the events that unfolded within the Supreme Court complex. The organisation has also demanded that Rahul Gandhi issue a public apology to the people of the country, the judiciary, and those who uphold the ideals of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Hearing on Owaisi’s petition today

It should be noted that a major hearing is scheduled for today regarding the ongoing controversies surrounding the ECI (Election Commission of India). AIMIM supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has filed a petition regarding the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR).

This petition may also be heard today. Asaduddin Owaisi has opposed the SIR from the very beginning, describing it as an attempt to implement the NRC through the back door. He has levelled several allegations against the Modi government concerning the SIR.
