Arab Attack

New Delhi: Yemen’s Houthi rebels are continuously targeting Saudi Arabia, creating a dire situation where the safety of civilians has become a major concern. In light of the escalating attacks by the Houthis, a decision has been made to step up security for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. As a precautionary measure, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is frequently moving between heavily fortified, bunker-equipped palaces. His location within Saudi Arabia is being constantly changed. Meanwhile, Saudi authorities have warned of legal action against anyone sharing information regarding missiles and drones.

Crown Prince Not Seen in Public

According to some media reports, the Crown Prince who effectively runs Saudi Arabia has not been seen in public for about a week. During this time, he has been staying in palaces equipped with bunkers, which offer high levels of security. Citing officials familiar with his movements, The Wall Street Journal reported that this step was taken in response to the escalating conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi rebels and the associated security threats.

A specially selected team has also been deployed to ensure the Crown Prince’s safety. A deadly attack at King Khalid Airport claimed 13 lives and left over 300 people injured. The Houthis have warned of further attacks.

Saudi Arabia Issues Warning

In view of the Houthi rebels’ brazen actions, Saudi Arabia is exercising caution. The Kingdom has issued a warning in six languages, clarifying that legal action will be taken against anyone who shares information regarding missile and drone interceptions or their impact sites. Such actions could even lead to arrest. Additionally, in May, Saudi Arabia began sending threat-related alerts to mobile phones and social media accounts via the National Early Warning System. However, over the past week, despite an intensification of attacks by Houthi rebels, the system has not issued any alerts.

Meanwhile, according to a post on the Civil Defence Authority’s X account, the last alert before last week’s attacks was issued on September 29 for the southern province of Najran. At the same time, the Civil Defence Authority has continued to warn the public to remain vigilant regarding adverse weather conditions, such as rain and flooding; an alert to this effect was issued on Monday as well.

The Authority has also advised people against sharing photos, rumours, or information related to interception sites or the locations of attack. Saudi Arabia’s priority is vigilance, ensuring that the security apparatus remains fully intact.
