New Delhi: Major questions remain regarding whether peace will prevail between the US and Iran or if tensions will persist. Peace has not yet been fully established in the Middle East, as a ceasefire agreement has not yet been finalised at the negotiating table. The situation is deadlocked between Iran’s intransigent stance and the warnings issued by US President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has hinted that a major decision is imminent. Speaking to reporters on Saturday before departing the White House for Ohio, Trump stated that he is considering the next steps regarding Iran. Iran now faces a choice between an easy path and a difficult one.
Donald Trump Makes a Significant Statement
US President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran, noting that the country has already suffered heavy losses. The question now is whether the path ahead will be easy or difficult. However, Trump did not specify exactly which decision he is contemplating. He also made a surprising claim regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
He further stated that Iran appears to be backing away from its plans to acquire nuclear weapons, though he provided no detailed information to substantiate this claim. Trump remarked that Iran is essentially abandoning its plans to possess nuclear weapons.
Speculation Mounts Following Camp David Meeting
Trump’s statement follows a report by Axios revealing that his top national security advisors had met at Camp David. This crucial meeting addressed options for US policy regarding Iran, as well as the conflict in Yemen involving Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
Following the meeting, speculation arose that if diplomatic efforts with Tehran fail to break the deadlock, the US might consider military action once again. However, Donald Trump did not specify on Saturday which option his administration is prioritising.

Iran has also begun preparations for a potential new conflict.
Observing the US’s aggressive stance, the Iranian military has also initiated preparations. Meanwhile, speaking to Reuters, Iranian officials and a source familiar with internal deliberations revealed that Iran is formulating contingency plans for a scenario involving a large-scale renewed US military campaign.
According to sources, a conviction has also strengthened within the Iranian leadership that if the US launches a military campaign in the future, the response this time will be on a much larger scale than before. It is worth noting that all attempts to find a middle ground between Iran and the United States have proven unsuccessful. Once again, the possibility of armed conflict erupting in the Middle East appears to be growing.
