New Delhi: ‘Cockroach Janata Party’s’ ‘Protest 2.0’ is set to begin today at Jantar Mantar in the capital, Delhi. Security personnel have been deployed across every nook and corner of the city ahead of the demonstration. Prior to the start of the protest, Section 163 of the BNSS has been imposed in the New Delhi area, 57 metro stations have been closed, and internet services have been suspended in several parts of the city.

Meanwhile, Abhijit Deepke, the founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), stated that he would depart from Mumbai for Delhi on the morning of October 10. He also expressed apprehension that he might be arrested. He emphasised that even if he were arrested for any reason, the protest must not stop, and he called upon all ‘cockroaches’ (party supporters) to reach Delhi in large numbers.

What did Abhijit Deepke say?

CJP founder Abhijit Deepke expressed concern that he could be arrested at Delhi Airport. He stated that if he were arrested, the protest would not halt; instead, everyone would work to make the demonstration a success. On the other hand, the Delhi Police has not granted permission to the CJP to hold the protest at Jantar Mantar.

Despite this, the CJP has announced that the protest will take place on October 10. Late on the night of October 9, Abhijit Deepke shared videos via his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that even if he were arrested at Delhi Airport, the protest would continue unabated. His video is going viral rapidly on social media.

I am not afraid of arrest – Deepke.

Sharing a video on the social media platform X a day earlier, CJP founder Abhijit Deepke said, “Our march to Jantar Mantar is scheduled for tomorrow. I will leave Mumbai for Delhi tomorrow morning for that purpose.

“I do not know what will happen to me after I land tomorrow morning.” I have no idea whether I will be arrested at the airport or later. But one thing is certain: I am not going to back down, nor am I going to be intimidated.

He further stated that we must save our country’s democracy. My only request to you all is this: I am not afraid of being arrested. If this government wants to invoke the UAPA against me, they are free to do so. CJP is fighting for fair elections. Deepak added that we need fair elections in the country, which is impossible without the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar and the scrapping of the SIR.
