New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback in the national capital, Delhi. AAP’s national spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, has joined the Congress party. Kakkar had been associated with AAP since 2013; the party had entrusted her with the role of national spokesperson in 2023. Immediately upon joining Congress, she raised questions regarding AAP, citing the party’s policies as the reason for her departure.
Kakkar stated that she had reached a point where defending these matters no longer seemed possible. She also referred to the promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party. This move is being viewed as a significant blow to AAP in Delhi.

Questions Raised Against AAP Upon Leaving
As soon as Priyanka Kakkar left AAP and joined Congress, she raised questions concerning former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. She highlighted a distinct political culture among the party’s leaders and mentioned the use of helicopters for private travel. Meanwhile, she heaped praise on Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and MP from Raebareli.
Praise for Rahul Gandhi
After joining Congress, Kakkar questioned Kejriwal’s policies while simultaneously praising Rahul Gandhi. She lauded Gandhi’s flexibility and honesty, noting that he is currently fighting against vote theft.
She highlighted how Gandhi has raised questions before the public regarding the electoral process and referred to his allegations concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. She praised Gandhi for explaining to the public how votes are allegedly being stolen and transferred to Narendra Modi’s camp.

Gratitude Expressed to Congress Leaders
Priyanka Kakkar has expressed her gratitude to Congress leaders upon joining the party. The former AAP leader stated that she is thankful to the leaders who welcomed her into their fold and made her a part of their family. Her entry into the Congress marks a significant shift amidst the ongoing political dynamics between AAP and the Congress in Delhi’s political landscape.
Tensions May Escalate Between Congress and AAP
It is worth noting that tensions could once again rise between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress. Although both parties are part of the ‘INDIA’ alliance formed to counter the NDA, AAP did not participate in the alliance’s meeting regarding the Election Commission in the national capital, Delhi. Furthermore, with the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, where both parties are actively targeting each other,r it appears likely that further friction between AAP and Congress will be witnessed in the coming days.
