New Delhi: Demands for the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation have intensified ever since questions were raised regarding the SIR process. Now, starting October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, i the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to launch a nationwide agitation demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Preparations for the protest are proceeding rapidly. The CJP has called upon its workers and supporters to mobilise. Meanwhile, CJP Co-convenor Sourav Das has made a significant announcement, stating that change in the country is possible only when every individual plays their part.
He further remarked that the worst development over the past 12 years was the perception among a certain segment of society that the responsibility for the nation rested solely with them. According to Das, the youth have worked to change this mindset, emphasising that the participation of every individual in the country is essential.

What did Sourav Das say in his post?
CJP Co-convenor Sourav Das shared a significant message via a social media post. He stated that the most unfortunate aspect of the last 12 years was the belief held by one section of society that they held the exclusive mandate for the country. The youth have changed this; everyone has a stake in this country, and therefore, the effort of every individual is necessary to bring about systemic change.
He further added that everyone is welcome to join their protest. Das’s statement comes at a time when the CJP has intensified its opposition to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Raising questions about the electoral process and voter rights, the organisation has demanded Kumar’s resignation.
The CJP had declared that if Gyanesh Kumar did not resign within 48 hours, nationwide protests would ensue, including a demonstration at Jantar Mantar 2.0 in the capital, Delhi. In his statement, Sourav Das emphasised fostering public participation in the campaign rather than framing it as an issue concerning any single individual or organisation.
CJP Raises Questions About the Electoral System
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has raised questions regarding the Election Commission’s functioning and its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The organisation asserted that transparency is essential concerning decisions related to the electoral process and the removal of names from voter lists. Addressing these issues, the organisation also announced the launch of a “Fix the Election Commission campaign.

CJP Demanded Education Minister’s Resignation at Jantar Mantar
It is worth noting that the Cockroach Janata Party had staged a protest at Jantar Mantar over the NEET exam paper leak scandal. Educationist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk had also undertaken a fast unto death. During the CJP’s protest march towards Parliament, the Delhi Police resorted to a lathi-charge against students, leaving a large number of protesters injured. Consequently, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was compelled to resign from his post.
