New Delhi: In some parts of India, the spell of monsoon rains has completely ceased, bringing relief to the people. On the other hand, there are still many regions across the country experiencing torrential rainfall. Temperatures continue to drop due to the ongoing rain. Snowfall has commenced in certain areas of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall is expected to intensify in the coming days.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning continues in several parts of South India. Weather conditions are likely to deteriorate again in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The weather may also take a turn for the worse in the northeastern states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for several states. Details regarding the weather forecast for specific regions are provided below.
Torrential Rain Alert for These States
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 25–26. The IMD has also predicted the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in other parts of Northwest India.
An alert for torrential rain has been issued for several areas in the capital, Delhi, today. Warnings for light to moderate rain have been issued for parts of Rajasthan, where gusty winds are also expected. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh on September 21.
No rain warning has been issued for Punjab. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is expected in the Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand. Light to moderate rain is also likely in the Ramban, Rajouri, Reasi, and Kathua districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
Weather Forecast for Eastern India
According to the Meteorological Department, warnings for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning have been issued for Jharkhand, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim between September 21 and 26. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted for Bihar during this same period. Meanwhile, a rainfall alert has been issued for the Gangetic plains of West Bengal for the period of September 22–25. Alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in isolated areas of Odisha have been issued for September 21–22. Strong winds (speeds of 30–40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph) are likely in Jharkhand on September 21.
Weather in Central India
According to the IMD, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in West Madhya Pradesh (September 25–26), East Madhya Pradesh (September 23–26), Vidarbha (September 21–26), and Chhattisgarh (September 21–26). Additionally, an alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for southern Chhattisgarh on September 24.
Weather in the Northeast
The IMD has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Assam and Meghalaya (September 23–25) and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura (September 21 and September 22–24). An alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh for the period of September 21–26.
